Analysis:This book is... how shall we put this? This book is extremely upsetting to hard-core Dodo fans. David Bishop takes some rather strong liberties with Dodo. First we learn about her being in a sanitarium after her return to Earth. (Perhaps it has to do with being controlled by WOTAN in "The War Machines" or something.) That's upsetting enough. But then... Well, Dodo starts sleeping around with James Stevens (the main character of the book), making this two books in a row where she's had sex... And then, in an attempt to hurt Stevens and generally mess with his head, someone... Let's just say that David Bishop is no longer on our Christmas Card List. Alas, poor Dodo, we hardly knew ye. (Other than that, it's a good book... but it's a rather big stumbling block for any Dodo fan!) |
